How to Reset Whirlpool/Kitchenaid Water Filter Light

Whirlpool & Kitchen Aid Models:

  1. If the refrigerator has this:
    whirlpool refrigerator dispenser area
    Press OPTIONS BUTTON, Then LOCK BUTTON, Then MEASURED FILL BUTTON.
  2. FRENCH DOOR BOTTOM FREEZER
    At the touchpad hold (FAST COOL) and (ENERGY SAVER) buttons at the same time for 3 seconds or until you hear a beep.
    This will turn the light from orange to blue.
    (NOTE) If the fridge doesn’t beep after holding down the “Fast Cool” and “Energy Saver” buttons for 3 seconds, wipe the touchpad with a clean cloth and then press the buttons again.
  3. SIDE BY SIDE
    After changing the filter, Hold down the (FILTER) button for 3 seconds to reset the light.
    Hold the button down until it beeps or the light changes from orange to blue.
  4. FRENCH DOOR
    After changing the water filter, reset the status. Press and hold the (WATER FILTER) button for 3 seconds.
    When the system is reset, the water filter icon will return to its BLUE color and the words “Replace Filter” will disappear from the display.
  5. OTHER MODEL
    After changing the filter, reset the filter status light by pressing and hold the (LIGHT) and (ICE TYPE) buttons for 3 seconds.
    The status light will turn off when the system is reset.
  6. OTHER MODEL
    After changing the filter, touch (MAX COOL) and (MAX ICE) together for 3 seconds to reset the water filter.
    The display will do a 3-second countdown, then flash the icon and play a tone.
